Giant Panda Breeding and Research Base in Xiongmao Valley, Sichuan Province, China

For the fourth and final post in the Chengdu series, we took a short drive down to see what everyone comes to Chengdu to see, the Giant Panda Breeding and Research Base in Xiongmao Valley. Because of our fortuitous timing, the research base was empty! It’s the first time I’ve visited the pandas and literally had the entire place to myself.

In this series from Chengdu:

Pandas, Pandas, and More Pandas!

The great thing about cute pandas is that they don’t need any words to describe what they’re doing. They’re one of the most photogenic and charismatic animals around. They do the silliest things and pose in the funniest ways. Here’s a few images from the three hours we spent there.

    1. Hi Neal. I think we can still put our arms around the pandas, but it requires scheduling something ahead of time. I think the pandas likely prefer to be left alone after the Golden Week holiday 🙂
